New Features: Friends Status and Shout Out Wall!

my status will not work.  A text field does not appear when I hover over or click “is” and when I go to the nursery status page it does not allow me to enter text.

I can’t change my status in Safari (mac) … I have to log in using firefox to change it.
BUT… THANX for adding this feature :)

yeah, we're aware of this issue in Safari. sorry about that. we'll figure it out soon :)

Is there any way to disable the appearance of these features?

I'm not so voyeuristic that I need to know what people are doing on a second by second basis (although I enjoy how John Craig captures a spontaneous Moment in his blog). 

And I don't have a great need for people shouting at me.  I'm not an such an ego maniac that I need to have people be awestruck by all the lavish praise I richly deserve posted by my adoring fans.  Just send email, please.

I'm with Kiso . I'd like to disable these new features too.
Is that an option now, or will it be soon?

I'd also like to see an option to remove, or preferably for them to be installed as an add-on.

I've had some fun with shout box and status, but for me this doesn't feel like a Zaadz default.

My shout out works but not the Status…so what is my problem?
Do I have to have Twitter Technology? LOL…

I'm now using firefox and that's not my choice of browser at all … but really guys … i'm not techno or a geek but it's time that you moved with the times isn't it? Why can't I get the same facility with Safari … bout time you guys became Mac friendly … there's a lot of us out there you know … damned if I'll ever use explorer again … my choice I know, but if we want to be 'new aqe' … and I hate that term … we need to be able to include Mac full stop … no-one else does and that's going to put us way ahead of other sites.

Meanwhile I'll use firefox … cos it's the only way to get the toolbox facility … why is that?

By the way don't mean to be altogether negative … the mac thing pisses me off, but apart from that, the site is Fab!!!

I spend most  of my online life here and you guys are doing a great job … just get mac friendly as well willya :)

hi everyone, the Mac issue should be fixed by now. both Status and Shout Out features should now work with Safari. i just tried it on mine.

as for the option of turning off these features, don't worry we're working on it too. will let you know as soon as it's up.

as long as everyone is chiming in :)  i am fine with the new features, but would like to be able to rearrange on my profile page, aka facebook.

i would really like to be able to arrange my pod list and have my most visited towards the top so i could easily see my favorite pods when they have new items.

our you going to make a zaadz community status place on the main or new page?  one that combines the whole community's status?

What’s working: upgrades, evolution, enhancements. Good work, guys. It’s nice to see the Zaadz team continuing to polish this mighty apple.

What’s not working (for me): SHOUTING! and hitting the WALL. Ouch! I posted a comment in the Think Tank pod about this - Zaadz is a garden; let’s keep the sensation of that wherever we can. If the new sections had a different texture to them, I might not be seeking a way to disable them. I do like having a sense of community that comes from seeing my friends’ blooms opening on my page … just cringe when they’re shouting :)

I have a myspace profile that I’m setting up to promote a specific event and to connect with people who aren’t stepping into the garden here, so I’m not anti-myspace. But I am “anti” the myspacification of Zaadz! Our conversations here are different and the sensation is less superficial, even when it’s playful and light. So please keep the brand intact with all of the new improvements you’re making.

And since the macophiles are chanting in this thread, I’ll chime in: Me, too! A mac-friendly site would really make me swoon.

I totally agree it is good to be able to disable these new features. I was annoyed by their very existence at first, including at the Shout and Wall words, harsh words, and about the overload of seemingly unnecessary and trivial info, and seeming redundancy with Zmail, etc. Then I was skeptical. But I have had some insights I would like to share.

Some of the skepticism comes from, like, teenagers who call and text: Now I am buying bread, now I am eating a cheese sandwich, now I am getting dressed….. One would hope Zsters would share things that are more uplifting…..

Now I am enthused about the possibilities for more intimate and more immediate communication. To me, the Internet is preparing us for the direct experience of the One Mind We Already Are, and for telepathy as our normal way of communicating. These new features are definitely moving us in that direction, even compared to the existing previous ways the site is facilitating our communication,  our communion, our community contact.

So I'm going with that perspective, and if I don't like certain aspects, I can just like others do: suggest they be modified!!!

Still waiting for the IE7 fix on the “IS” thingy - looks pretty stupid just sitting up there all by its lonesome self!!!!  Is there a way to disable “IS” while you figure a way to make it work on that browser?  I've actually thought about doing a shout-out to myself to let my friends know that I'm not inept - that it's just not working.  :(

(BTW, could we get some emoticoms?….. sometimes words just don't convey the amount of emotion one wants to put into things)

I like these new features but would like to see more configuration options, particularly for zPro sites.  Some things in particular that I'd like to be able to do:

- move the widgets around to different page sections and, more importantly, show them on my zPro page and not just on my profile page
- change the number of status messages and shouts that appear in the widgets
- change the names of the widgets (particularly the “shout wall” that so many have complained about)
- have a “Twitter-esque” page to view and manage my own status messages (not mixed in with all my friends' statuses)

But then maybe some of these features already exist and I just haven't figured out how to do them yet.

I like the feature, but was unable to change it yesterday - does it allow only one per day? Also, there's a Delete button alongside shout-outs that are for others! Can anyone delete anything?

As I'm posting in Think tank, though - would like it to be called something else.

thanks again for all your feedback. we'll incorporate your suggestions and fix those pesky bugs. this is an early version of the features so expect improvements as we go along.

Hi Chaos,

In my opinion the best improvement you could make is to chuck both of them (Friends' Status and Shout Out), or at least give me a way to remove them from my page. At the VERY LEAST put them BELOW the list of pods I am involved in. Now I have to scroll down through the superfluity of the Friends' Status and Shout Out (please No!) to get to the quickest way to access the pods.

Not the best display of innovative thinking, IMHO. Introduces an unneeded “feature” which makes the site harder to use. On the other hand it is another reason to spend less time on zaadz and more time in the real world.

Not a huge fan of both features. Thanks for enabling a disable option…

My biggest “beef” is that your servers are SOOOOOO SLOWWWWW….. any chance of a little (or a lot) more speed???
